Garrido: If Betis win games…

Juan Carlos Garrido has outlined his ambition to ‘rediscover’ Real Betis’ confidence, stating: “If we win games then the fans will be happy.”

Garrido was brought in on Monday evening as the sacked Pepe Mel’s replacement, and inherits a side bottom of La Liga after an indifferent start to the season.

For the former Villarreal man, who held a first training session with his new charges behind closed doors today, the task is clear and immediate.

“My goal is to get the best out of the players, who are good, as we have seen in other seasons. If we win games then the fans will be happy,” Garrido told reporters at his presentation today.

“My job as Coach is to create a work environment to regain the players’ confidence and get the most out of each player. The squad has shown that they have the willingness and desire to do a good job. I am happy with my first training session.

“We need to regain our In the League, Cup and Europa League, to win every game would be a dream fulfilled. In the League, the long term objective right now is to keep Betis in the League, to stay in the Primera Division and every game is now the most important of the year.

“Here there is the urgency to win every game, to rediscover our performance immediately and to be a strong and aggressive team that wins games from now on.

“The speed of my arrival? It was very fast and when they contacted me I found an interesting project because I believe that there are good players here.

“It is not true that I met with the club last week.”
