Bale admits to summer frustration

Gareth Bale has revealed his frustration at how long it took him to move from Tottenham to Real Madrid this summer.

The Welsh winger joined Los Blancos for a record €100m in August, but the attacker has admitted that it was a difficult summer.

“It was a very long summer in terms of being able to come to Real Madrid,” he told the club’s official website.

“I found out about the news when my agent called me. It was a long period of negotiations over the summer, it was a bit difficult, but when it was sorted out it was an amazing feeling.

“The first people I shared it with were my family.

“First of all I want to thank the supporters. I hope I can carry on doing my best, giving 100 per cent. I want to do great things with Real Madrid and win a lot of trophies.

“In my opinion Real Madrid is the best team in the world. We have the best players and the best stadium, and everything about the club is perfect.

“The reason I signed for Real Madrid is because it is the best club in the world. I want to win a lot of things and this is the best team you can be in.

“My team mates are helping me to learn Spanish on the pitch and in the training sessions. There are some jokes, but that is normal.

“For me learning the language is important and that is what I am trying to make an effort to do.”

Bale then went on to praise Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming his teammate is the best in the world.

“In my view Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world. This season he is showing what a great player he is.

“And he does it under pressure like he did against Sweden. He is the best by a long way and he shows it in every match.”
