Malaga identify Argentine midfielder

Malaga boss Bernd Schuster has identified Metalist Kharkiv midfielder Jose Sosa as a possible recruitment for the January transfer window.

The German has been scouring the market for a playmaker and sees the Argentine international as the man to provide some much-needed quality in his central midfield.

According to Diario Sur, contact with the player’s Ukrainian club has already been made, with the Costa del Sol outfit hoping to bring the 28-year-old in on an initial loan agreement with an option to buy.

Sosa, capped 19 times by his country, began his career with Estudiantes and joined Bayern Munich in July 2007 for a reported €8m. After three years in the Bundesliga, during which he struggled to make a real impact, he joined Napoli for a season before moving to Metalist, where he was named captain.

Sosa’s signing would bring to four the number of non-EU players in Schuster’s squad, meaning one of Weligton, Roberto Chen or Pedro Morales would need to make way.
