Swansea tracking Hector Moreno

Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup is thought to be hot on the trail of Espanyol’s Mexican international defender Hector Moreno.

A report in Sport claims Laudrup travelled to Barcelona last week and speculation has it that he had planned to meet the 25-year-old in a bid to convince him to move to the Premier League.

The Welsh outfit were understood to be keen on the centre-back during the summer but were put off by the fee of €9.5m being demanded by the La Liga club, while there were also tentative enquiries from both Cardiff City and Rubin Kazan.

According to Sport, Moreno himself is open to a move to the Liberty Stadium, while any significant offer is sure to tempt Espanyol, who have suffered economic problems recently.

In addition, Moreno’s representative Eduardo Hernandez is believed on his way to Europe should negotiations take place for a player who joined the Catalans from AZ Alkmaar in June 2011 for a fee of €4m.
