Punto Pelota: Messi to leave next year

Punto Pelota journalist Francois Gallardo alleges Lionel Messi has an agreement in place that will see him leave Barcelona next summer.

“For a month the relationship between Messi’s advisors and the club is null. The player feels betrayed and has decided to leave at the end of the season.

“In fact, he has a verbal agreement with another team and from February or March will begin planning his transfer,” maintained Gallardo in article that has already caused great surprise on social networks.

Gallardo went on to explain his allegations and how the situation would develop.

“In late September, hardly two months ago, a Blaugrana player and his representatives met with Barca. The footballer wanted a revision of his contract with the Catalan club that he was promised would be fulfilled.

“An increase was agreed. However, after a month the club got in touch with him and explained they were unable to do it.

“The decision is taken. Leo Messi will leave Barca at the end of the season. He will go to a country very close to ours.

“The situation is irreversible and his agents have already spoken to the possible destination club.”

Gallardo noted that the probable cause of Messi’s discontent is that teammate Neymar earns more than the Argentine superstar, around €17m-a-year.

“Without doubt, the club he will go to can pay him more than €18m-a-year. It’s outrageous what they are offering and Barca can’t pay Messi what he’d earn there,” he declared.
