‘Carles Gil is ours next season’

Amadeo Salvo has confirmed that Valencia will take back Carles Gil for next season and encorporate him into the first team.

The young attacking midfielder is midway through a second consecutive campaign on loan at Elche where speculation in recent weeks has paired both Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City with interest.

However, Los Che have moved to ensure his short-term future at least will be at the Mestalla.

“Carles Gil is ours and next season he will play in the first team,” Salvo has told reporters over the weekend.

“Interest in him from other clubs? It is a signal that the player is on the right track. It is a good sign that he is wanted, it would be bad if no-one was interested.”

Superdeporte report that Salvo has met with Gil’s agents over the weekend and plan to confirm his place with Valencia for next term, with the idea to improve his current contract too.

The 20-year-old’s current deal expires in June 2016, but the club are seen to believe that his buyout clause of €8m is too low for recent progression.

Elche play Valencia next weekend at the Martinez Valero and Gil will not be on the pitch, as Elche have to pay €300,000 to override a non-appearance clause.
