‘Betis may spend more in January’

Jose Antonio Bosch has conceded that Real Betis may move in the January market to rectify their current situation.

Los Beticos are spending the November international break bottom of La Liga after a difficult start to the season.

Despite a number of changes to the squad over the summer, one of the club’s leading directors says a move or two midseason cannot be ruled out.

“Up until January 1, we are playing with the squad that we have and things could happen that we have not made provisions for,” Bosch has considered this week to AS.

“What today is a problem may seem secondary in a few weeks. Right now we have to reverse the situation with what we have.

“Yes, we could spend more now than we did in the summer. But whether it is necessary to sign or not will be determined by the technical staff.

“The situation? How can we not be concerned about being the bottom club? That is obvious. And we do not like it, too.

“What I think is that there is still time to change the situation and so we do not panic, because they have the means, and they should and will.

“Who is to blame? For me, any liability for better or worse starts with the board, then the sporting director, then the Coach and then the players.

“What happens is that when you do well, the pyramid is usually reversed – it starts with the players.

“Will anyone pay for this? This is the Titanic but without a lifeboat. We could save everyone or we all sink. Apart from that, Mel is the Coach who for us is the best in the world.

“We have enough slack to understand that the relationship with the Coach is free. For how long? The project with Mel will be for four seasons.”
