Another sprain for Baptistao

Leo Baptistao has suffered another injury early into his Atletico Madrid career, retiring early from a midweek friendly.

Those not involved in internationals this break were lined up in a friendly test away to Segunda Division outfit Cordoba.

Baptistao, who has not featured for Los Colchoneros since early October’s win at Porto in the Champions League, began the game but was pulled off at the half-hour mark injured.

Early indications are that the 21-year-old has suffered a sprained ankle, which tests due to be carried out on Friday will clarify.

Suffering this on his right ankle, curiously the player had only returned to training at the start of the month after two weeks off having sprained his left ankle in mid-October.
