€5m bonus to beat Spain

Equatorial Guinea are reportedly being offered the incentive a €5m bonus payment if they can beat Spain.

Reports on state television in the country have it that Andoni Goikoetxea’s squad will be handed that sum to share among themselves should they manage to defeat La Roja in next Saturday’s friendly in Malabo.

It is understood that the country’s second Vice-President Teodoro Nguema Obiang, son to President Teodoro Obiang, has promised the amount during a meeting with the head of the Equatorial Guinean Football Federation, Domingo Mituy Edjang.

The incentive is seen as put in place to ‘give the boys the motivation in this important match’ and ‘to show solidarity with the national team’.

It is also believed that a bonus of €50,000 will be offered for each goal the team score against Vicente del Bosque’s team.
