Benayoun: I’m close to Malaga

Malaga reportedly hold the advantage in negotiations to pick up Israeli playmaker Yossi Benayoun, who says he is ‘more inclined towards Spain’.

The 33-year-old is available on a free transfer to interested clubs following his summer release from Chelsea and has been strongly linked with staying in London to sign with Queens Park Rangers.

However, The Daily Mail report that Malaga have come in with an offer £65,000, €78,000-a-week contract offer and quote the player on his situation.

“[My agent] Pini Zahavi is pressing me hard to sign for QPR but at the moment I'm inclined towards moving to Spain,” former Racing Santander man Benayoun has said.

“However, things can change in one second. I also have an offer from Malaga and we are set to agree everything.

“The only thing that is bothering me is that I won't be able to play until January because they have their full quota of non-European players and I don't hold an EU passport.”
