€4m for Spain to play Gabon

The Federation Gabonaise de Football have reportedly offered their Spanish counterparts €4m for a November international friendly.

With automatic qualification to the World Cup finals next summer in Brazil now assured, La Roja are looking to fill November’s international dates with two friendlies.

Reports in Spain suggest that a number of African nations have come forward with proposals, including Senegal, Cameroon and Congo, but that Gabon appear to be leading the way.

With a reported offer of €4m to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) apparently to be part-funded by the Gabon Federation’s President Ali Bongo Ondimba, Spain could be set for a trip out to the Stade d’Angondje on November 19.

It is believed that RFEF officials have sought assurances from the Portuguese Federation over the potential deal, in light of Portugal’s trip out to play Gabon in November 2012.

Spain’s recent run of friendlies has taken them across the globe to face nations such as the USA, Venzuela, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Panama and Ecuador.
