Mata: Happy for everything

Juan Mata has assessed the positives to take out of helping Spain to secure World Cup qualification, as he also says he is ‘fine’ at Chelsea.

The playmaker marked his return to the national set-up this month with the second goal from the bench in Spain’s 2-0 win over Georgia on Tuesday night.

Marking La Roja’s automatic progression to the World Cup next summer in Brazil, the playmaker was left positive afterwards.

“I am very happy for the win, for us to have qualified first in the group to mathematically reach the World Cup and to have played and scored,” surmised Mata post-match.

“In the last qualifiers it has been very difficult to score because the opponents have been very closed off. We must try to move the ball quickly, as we did here, in order to try and score.

“My situation with Chelsea? I am fine, I have been playing in various games and I think I am at a good level.

“I feel fine. I went through a difficult moment in preseason when I had an injury.”
