Xavi Hernandez says that Victor Valdes’ current run of form for Barcelona is valued more ‘since he announced that he is going’.
The goalkeeper has begun what looks to be his final year with the Catalans in strong form and during Tuesday’s Champions League win at Celtic provided a key save before Cesc Fabregas’ winner.
“Perhaps now the value of Valdes is even greater, since he has announced that he is going, he is a great goalkeeper,” Xavi commented to Cadena Ser this week.
“Victor has returned to being extraordinary, he has again proven his worth.”
Barca won 1-0 at Celtic Park to maintain a 100 per cent start to their European campaign.
“Maybe it has been our most complete game, we have had greater control.
“The philosophy of the club is the same and now we have demonstrated this, that the philosophy is untouchable.
“What we are doing with Tata is very much like what was done in the previous years.
“Neymar’s performance? He has been the leader of the team.”
