Marcelino Garcia Toral believes that Villarreal will face an ‘evenly matched’ opponent in Espanyol this Thursday evening.
El Submarino Amarillo host Los Pericos this Week 6 with the two teams currently level on points in fourth and fifth in the League and so far unbeaten.
“We come into this game evenly matched with Espanyol, who are a competitive team that minimise risks and are very strong,” Marcelino has considered today in his pre-game brief.
“They have a clear idea of how to play, they have a reference point that is Sergio Garcia and they have a solid defensive structure that can counter-attack very dangerously.”
The tactician also considered the test his side face in playing this midweek round.
“What I believe is that, either way, this will be a tough, difficult match. This is two teams that are at a good level and we expect an even game which will be very complicated.
“We will make changes because there are three games in seven days and because we have a squad that allows us to do so.
“There won’t be many, though, because we want to give stability to the side, but there will be some variations. When I talk of changes, I mean between two and five players.”
