Javier Mascherano could miss Barcelona’s next three games after picking up a thigh strain in Tuesday’s win over Real Sociedad.
The Argentine was caught above the knee by teammate Sergio Busquets’ studs in an accidental clash in the early stages of Barca’s eventual 4-1 win at the Camp Nou yesterday evening.
Mascherano played on for a while but was forced off in discomfort just after the half-hour mark, with it reported post-match that he had suffered a hamstring injury.
Subsequent tests carried out on Wednesday have confirmed this, with the 29-year-old listed as having suffered a strain in his right thigh that will require between 10 and 15 days to recover.
This sees Mascherano likely to miss upcoming fixtures in La Liga against Almeria and Real Valladolid and in the Champions League away to Celtic.
