Cesc: Counter-attacking worth a go

Cesc Fabregas admits Barcelona are still working on improving certain aspects of their play and says they should be open to trying counter-attacking.

The Catalans defeated Ajax yesterday evening in their Champions League group stage opener, but saw the Dutch take periods of possession and create chances too.

“There are nuances that we have to improve,” Fabregas reflected afterwards.

“We’re working well and the results are good. We all strive for excellence. I think it will come soon.”

“If we can counterattack it’s worth giving it a try. We’re training to improve a couple of things.

“We need to read the games the way the boss wants us to.”

Fabregas has continued under Martino moving from position to position and played Wednesday’s game in midfield in place of Xavi Hernandez.

“I’ve played in a couple of positions and the truth is that I feel comfortable. I’m feeling good physically and that’s the most important thing.”
