Granero out for six months

Esteban Granero has reportedly had tests on Wednesday morning confirm anterior cruciate ligament damage, ruling him out for several months.

The midfielder was stretchered off in the closing stages of Real Sociedad’s Champions League opening defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday evening having twisted his knee.

On from an initial diagnosis from the club that suggested ACL damage in the joint, the player underwent tests on Wednesday morning.

Reports in Spain are that these have confirmed the extent of the damage and that the 26-year-old will face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, speculated as around six months.
