‘The Coach decides who plays’

Diego Lopez was the star of the show for Real Madrid as they drew 2-2 with Villarreal, but the goalkeeper is just concentrating on doing well.

The former Yellow Submarine man produced a number of superb saves to keep Los Blancos in the match to further show why he deserves a place in the team above Iker Casillas.

“It’s up to the Coach to decide whether the two of us will get to play,” he told reporters.

“We have to support each other in the team. We have to win no matter who is selected to play.

“Fortunately, we have a great squad and we have to support each other and spur each other on. The team is a close-knit group and that is the most important thing.

“Villarreal played very well throughout the full ninety minutes and they made things tough for us. After equalizing, which is no easy task on this pitch, their second goal hit us hard, but we have to keep focused on Tuesday.

“Playing against Villarreal was really special and I intend to work hard to stay at this level all season. Emotionally this match was very special for me.”
