‘Villarreal will pressurise Madrid’

Manu Trigueros has reflected on the ‘dream’ it will be in playing Real Madrid and promised that Villarreal will stay true to their game.

The Yellow Submarine play host to Los Merengues this Saturday evening as League action in the fourth round of the season gets underway.

For Villarreal’s 21-year-old midfielder, this fixture is one that has stood out on the calendar since the summer and in his dreams since before then.

“Since childhood you dream of playing these games and Saturday will be a moment to enjoy,” mused Trigueros to reporters this week.

“I hope to make the most of it and show that we can compete with them. Since I knew we were facing Madrid in the fourth round I have been looking forward to this.

“I like that we can play against great players, to face them and fight against them is a good motivation for everyone.

“Their injuries? Regardless of who plays for Madrid, they are a good team. Whilst they may have some absences, they have many players who can complicate matters. But if they do not have Cristiano then all the better, but I think he will play.

“We are working hard to try and stop their strengths, we are also trying to play to our strengths and pressure their weak points. And playing at home, with the support of our fans, we hope to make things complicated.

“We are going to have to put in a great effort, run a lot, but we should not change our game. We believed in what we are doing and we must continue along the line that has brought us to this point.

“With this I believe that we have our options in place to pressurise them and put them in some trouble.”
