Ruben Castro suffers setback

Ruben Castro will travel to Barcelona to seek a second opinion on an injury that has restricted his work through preseason and into the campaign.

The striker has missed a large chunk of Betis’ preparatory work this summer and been in and out of Pepe Mel’s plans since, having struggled with a sciatic nerve.

Castro, who is Los Beticos’ leading striker, returned to training after his latest lay-off this Tuesday, receiving injections to ease the pain in his back.

However, having suffered a relapse of the issue in the opening 15 minutes of training on Thursday, the 32-year-old is seeking further help.

It is understood that Castro will travel up to Barcelona to visit the Dexeus Clinic, which has notably treated the likes of Gonazlo Higuain and Santi Cazorla in the past.
