Atletico Madrid have announced that full-back Juanfran Torres has renewed his contract with the club through to June 2017.
The former winger, who has been converted to a more defensive position since moving to the Vicente Calderon in January 2011, has agreed a two-year extension to his current deal.
The 28-year-old, who has made 111 appearances for Atleti in all competitions so far, expressed his delight through Atletico’s official statement on the news on Thursday.
“First I want to thank the club and the Coach for all the confidence they have in me,” Juanfran has enthused.
“I am very proud to wear this shirt and this badge for many more years.”
Sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero also passed comment on the matter.
“I am very satisfied with the agreement reached with Juanfran, as he has become a very important player for us, offering us a lot on the wing, speed, delivery…
“Also personally he transmits much optimism because he is a positive player, a great teammates and a person for the group, much loved by the dressing room, the club and the fans.”
