Fabio Coentrao has added to Real Madrid’s injury issues by retiring hurt during Portugal’s friendly with Brazil last night.
The full-back was replaced early in the second half of his national side’s defeat to next summer’s World Cup hosts reportedly complaining of discomfort in his thigh.
It is unclear at this moment how severe the 25-year-old’s injury may be, but it currently rules him as a doubt for Real Madrid’s League trip to Villarreal this Saturday.
Coentrao is the latest Madrid man to struggle with injury during this international break, on from Marcelo, Luka Modric, Isco and Cristiano Ronaldo all returning to Valdebebas early this week.
