San Mames on Euro 2020 shortlist

Athletic Bilbao’s new San Mames stadium could be named as one of the venues for Euro 2020, according to reports.

Mundo Deportivo believe that the Spanish Football Federation [RFEF] will nominate the newly-built stadium to UEFA as one of the 13 venues to host the European Championships in seven years’time.

The tournament will be played in several countries over 13 different cities for the first time in its history.

A UEFA Executive Committee will reveal the names of the venues shortlisted later this month, before announcing the final list next January.

San Mames, Valencia’s Mestalla, Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu and Barcelona’s Camp Nou are expected to be Spain’s nominated venues.

Los Leones’ new ground will be officially opened next Monday. It has a capacity of 53,332.
