Barca respond to Abidal

Barcelona have indicated that they did pay Eric Abidal his agreed wage during his recovery from illness, whilst at the club.

The Frenchman has today raised the suggestion that he was not paid by the club when working his way back to the game after undergoing a liver transplant in 2012.

However, AS quote a source at the Catalan outfit as clarifying that Barca did meet his salary, even if some of it was paid through insurance.

“Eric Abidal was paid everything that was stipulated on time,” AS quote their source at the club as saying today.

“Barca have remained up-to-date with his salary at all times, although a part of that came from medical insurance. However, that part was very small.”
