Koke, Mario to start, Isco out

Isco looks a certainty to miss Spain’s test with Finland, whilst Koke and Mario Suarez could be handed starts in this World Cup qualifier.

Training on Thursday evening saw Real Madrid’s young playmaker limp out before the end, still suffering in discomfort with an ankle injury sustained earlier in the week.

The injury is believed to have virtually ruled Isco out of participation in tonight’s Group I meeting in Helsinki with Finland and travelling to Geneva next week for the friendly with Chile.

However, it is also understood as not a major concern as far as his availability in Real Madrid’s next match is concerned.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid’s Koke was once more the novelty in training, being worked at right-back in the perceived preferred starting XI.

Indications are that the youngster and club teammate Mario Suarez will both be starting against Finland, whilst Raul Albiol will deputise for Gerard Pique in defence.

Around Mario Saurez is likely to be a Barcelona midfield flanking Atleti’s David Villa in attack.

Victor Valdes is believed to have the advantage over Iker Casillas and Pepe Reina between the sticks.

Spain probable XI to play Finland: Valdes; Koke, Ramos, Albiol, Alba; Xavi, Mario Suarez, Iniesta; Fabregas, Villa, Pedro
