Group to sue over Neymar deal

The President of an investment group that held rights on Neymar when at Santos has said that they will sue Barcelona over funds not received.

Neymar was picked up by the Catalans this summer in a deal reported by the club as worth €57m, but Jose Barral, says that his investment group has not received their fair share of such a payment.

Sonda held 40 per cent of the player’s registration when he was on the books at Santos.

“We are preparing the documentation to sue,” Barral told Cadena Ser this week.

“Our group had 40 per cent of Neymar’s rights, but we have not received an amount from €57m but only 40 per cent of €17m. We have earned €6.8m and €16m more belongs to us. This is why we are denouncing them.”

Barral was asked of last minute interest from Real Madrid in the player.

“This year we have not spoken with Madrid, but in 2011 yes we did.

“They offered €65m for Neymar.”
