Mario Suarez set for Spain start?

Indications from Wednesday morning’s training has Mario Suarez in contention to start for Spain against Finland on Friday.

Yesterday’s workout with a presumed starting XI had Iker Casillas seemingly behind Victor Valdes in the pecking order, Koke Resurreccion at full-back and Roberto Soldado and Alvaro Negredo ahead of David Villa in attack.

However, today’s session has indicated that Vicente del Bosque is considering a move conventional back-line, complimented with a more midfield-heavy XI to support Villa up front.

Alvaro Arbeloa worked alongside Sergio Ramos and Jordi Alba at the back, with it assumed that the remaining spot will be Raul Albiol’s. However, Koke is believed still in contention for Arbeloa’s spot.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid’s Mario Suarez was the notable name in a midfield including Xavi Hernandez, David Silva, Cesc Fabregas and Andres Iniesta. The latter two are expected to support Villa in attack.

Ahead of the squad flying out to Finland this afternoon, Isco was the only one to miss training due to an ankle injury.
