Rayo pick up Seba, close to Viera

Rayo Vallecano have completed a deal for Seba Fernandez and are on the verge of also loaning in Valencia’s Jonathan Viera.

Seba Fernandez was heavily expected to move to the Madrid minnows this week on from agreeing to cancel his contract with Malaga.

The forward, who made 80 appearances for the Anchovies in three seasons, was presented to the media on Thursday evening.

“I feel no pressure even as they expect a lot from me,” began the 28-year-old to reporters.

“The thing I want is to find a place where I can be important. I arrive with great enthusiasm and with a great desire to contribute.

“Physically I am fine. I can play on Friday if the Coach decides. The truth is that Rayo showed that they wanted me to come here and this is a place where I can be important.

“Now I want to return that confidence, I am hungry for football.”

On from confirming Fernandez’s signing, Rayo are also expected today to finalise terms on a loan agreement with Valencia for winger Jonathan Viera.

The playmaker is reported as having said goodbye to teammates at Mestalla today and is expected in the capital to undergo a medical with Rayo.

Los Franjirrojos are understood to have agreed a deal to take the 23-year-old, thought to have lost his place at Valencia to new signing Dorlan Pabon, on a one-year loan deal, without an option in place to make that permanent.
