Kaka: I want to leave Madrid

Ricardo Kaka has confirmed his desire to leave Real Madrid this summer, after four years at the club.

The 31-year-old, who cost Madrid €68.5m in 2009, has struggled for fitness and regular playing time in the past two seasons.

Whilst reports had Carlo Ancelotti giving the player this preseason as a final chance to earn a spot in the first team squad, the Brazilian has come out to make clear his intention now is to leave.

“I want to leave Madrid,” Kaka told reporters after scoring twice in Madrid’s 4-0 win at Deportivo to win the Trofeo Teresa Herrera on Thursday night.

“It is the right time to leave amicably. I have spoken to Ancelotti and to the club, they all know.

“I feel physically fine, but the club knows that I am looking for a solution to my situation. Things here are very difficult for me, every time there is less space. I’m ready every day to train and work, but that does not mean that I am happy. I’ve been talking with my father [and agent] to see if anything comes up.

“Where would I go? I cannot go to Brazil as the market is closed there, the move would be in Europe. I think it is best for me and the club to leave in an amicable way, this is a good time to exit. I do not want to talk about any teams because there are none.

“The club know that I want to go and they want to help me find a solution for my departure. Ancelotti knows, Florentino knows, everyone at the club knows and I hope that from now until Monday I can find a solution.”

The attacking midfielder was asked his view on Madrid’s Champions League group stage draw, that has pitted them against Juventus, Galatasaray and Copenhagen.

“The group that we have in the Champions League is very difficult. All rivals in the Champions League are difficult and last year it was good to start against great opponents because that made the team focused. It will be an interesting phase.

“Starting away to Gala? They will be a difficult opponent to start against because they are very strong in their stadium.

“The match with Juventus will be a very nice match and very special. In theory, we are the strongest in the group, but we must keep in mind Galatasaray as they are a very difficult opponent.”
