Lendoiro grateful to Madrid

Augusto Cesar Lendoiro has expressed his gratitude at welcoming Real Madrid for an evening friendly with Deportivo.

Los Blancos are the Galicians’ opponents for this year’s edition of the Trofeo Teresa Herrera and have agreed to participate at no cost to the financially stricken Segunda Division outfit.

“I am obliged to give thanks to Real Madrid for the great effort they have made in coming here for free and in between two League games,” Depor President Lendoiro told reporters today.

“This is one of the only Thursdays in the year that they can rest this season. For the delicate situation that Deportivo are in, it is sufficient not only to thank them, but to give them a round of applause.

“I want everyone to give them a standing ovation, and then we can follow our own teams.

“I hope that we can win the Teresa Herrera and that we do not suffer too much. But that’s already asking too much, so I hope that we can enjoy a great football match in A Coruna.”
