Fabregas: I never wanted to leave

Cesc Fabregas has insisted that he has never had any contact with Manchester United about a potential move.

Rumours abounded earlier this summer that the Barcelona midfielder would join the Old Traffors side.

However, the Spain international has claimed he is more than happy at Camp Nou.

“I have never said I wanted to go,” he told TVE. “Nor have I discussed it with the President or the Coach.

“You cannot take things as fact just because some journalists have said things on Twitter.

“My dream is to succeed here.

“I am eager to continue playing for this club – I am committed and proud to be a part of Barcelona.”

Fabregas then commented on Coach Tata Martino and the Supercopa match with Atletico Madrid.

“Tata is a man that clearly understands football. It’s been a positive surprise how well it’s gone.

“He has one of those voices that convinces you you’re going to do well.

“It’s going to be tough against Atleti. They are a great team who always score goals.”
