Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara has successfully been operated on and will be unavailable for Spain’s next four games.
The former Barcelona midfielder suffered ligament damage in his right ankle at the weekend and has now undergone corrective surgery.
Bayern have confirmed that the procedure was a success and that a recovery period of at least seven weeks is expected.
The 22-year-old is therefore unavailable for Spain’s upcoming fixtures with Finland and Chile in September and Belarus and Georgia in October.
