Madrid, Spurs continue Bale talks

Reports in Spain and England generally are that Gareth Bale’s world record transfer from Tottenham to Real Madrid is hours away from announcement.

On from stories at the close of last week that a deal had provisionally been agreed between the two clubs, the Welshman is understood to have flown out to Spain over the weekend, in anticipation of the move’s confirmation quickly being followed by his unveiling.

Monday sees reports in England and Spain continue to suggest that the transfer is just a matter of hours from being announced.

However, where outlets in the UK such as the Daily Mail suggest that a €100m deal has been reached, reports in Spain suggest the exact price has yet to be worked out with a difference of €10m said to be splitting the parties.

AS understand that Madrid are pushing for a €90m fee, with the incentive of paying that in one or two instalments only, whilst also indicating that to meet the London club’s €100m valuation, a payment structure of four instalments would be necessary.

It is still unclear whether or not full-back Fabio Coentrao will be included in the deal.

To add to the scenario, Spurs Coach Andre Villas-Boas reported his expectation at seeing Bale back in training with the club on Tuesday.

“Whether the transfer will happen or not, hopefully you will have more news in the next couple of days,” commented the Portuguese on Sunday.

“But, at the moment, there is nothing I can tell you.

“Why was he not at Tottenham’s game this weekend? We allowed him two days off. Monday is a day off. Tuesday is training so I would expect him to be there.

“It's not the first time this has come up. We never force non-selected players to come to our games. I decided that last season.”
