Ancelotti: Martino’s words were strange

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has hit back at Tata Martino after the Barcelona Coach criticised the capital club.

The Camp Nou man claimed yesterday that Los Blancos’ pursuit of Gareth Bale was ‘disrespectful’, with rumours that they will spend €100m on the Tottenham forward.

“I thought his words were strange,” Ancelotti told a Press conference. “Martino hasn’t been here long and I think he doesn’t yet understand how European football works, and how his own club works.

“They’ve also spent many millions on signings.”

The Italian then commented on where Bale will fit in his team, whilst also remarking on Monday’s opponents Granada.

“Where will Bale fit in this team? At the moment I’ve got bigger problems.

“We are confident to play better because we did not play well against the Betis.

“We had a hard time winning and the next game we are going to try to play better. We know that the Granada is a good team, last year it beat the Real Madrid.

“We have to be careful with this match, it is the first one away but we want to get the three points. The team is ready to play well.

“I am not going to said who will be picked tomorrow. I would rather talk with the two [goalkeepers] and then make a decision that will not be in place for the entire season.”
