Bale to Madrid ‘agreed’

Reports are that Gareth Bale’s world record move from Tottenham to Real Madrid has been agreed and could be announced in the next few days.

The 24-year-old has been the subject of increasing speculation through the summer about interest from Los Blancos, with reports in recent days suggesting negotiations have advanced to a crucial stage.

The Madrid based Press today believe that the transfer is now all but confirmed, with Bale agreeing a possible six-year deal, speculated to be paying €10m a season, below only Ricky Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Both Marca and AS assume that the deal has already been reached but that it will not be announced until after Spurs have completed other transfer business, so as not to affect prices in those negotiations. The Londoners are seen as close to deals for Willian and Erik Lamela.

Reports, meanwhile, are split between the two countries on the amount agreed for Bale, with those in Spain suggesting a fee of around €90m will be paid and those in Britain indicating that the figure is closer to €99m.
