Spain-Chile friendly announced

Spain and Chile will play a friendly match in Geneva, Switzerland on September 10.

Sergio Jadue, President of the Chilean National Professional Football Association, announced the date to Chilevision on Wednesday night from Denmark, where the South Americans thrashed Iraq 6-0 at the Brondby Stadium in Copenhagen.

“Thirty minutes before the Iraq game we signed a contract to face Spain in Europe. It will be a tremendous game,” said Jadue, who added that the Chile squad will travel to Switzerland on September 7, one day after playing Venezuela in a 2014 World Cup qualifier.

Chile Coach Jorge Sampaoli also commented on the fixture against the reigning World and European Champions, although he insisted it did not carry too much significance at the moment.

“It will be a fascinating challenge but my real concern is the match against Venezuela,” maintained Sampaoli.
