Valencia lose Fede for US tour

Valencia have confirmed that Fede Cartabia has suffered a grade II cervical sprain and will miss the team’s tour of the United States.

In one of the group’s final sessions before embarking on trip out to the US as part of their commitment in the International Champions Cup, youth graduate Fede caused alarm after suffered a blow to the head.

Almost knocked unconscious, the 20-year-old midfielder received treatment before being stretchered off to an ambulance and then to hospital.

The club have now confirmed that the player, who has just signed a contract renewal through to June 2017, has suffered a grade II cervical sprain.

The injury has ruled him out of Los Che’s travelling party to the States, and his place in the 23 is taken by Salva Ruiz.
