Spurs confirm Soldado deal

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed a deal to sign Valencia striker Roberto Soldado has been agreed, subject to a medical.

On from reports this morning that terms of the €30m transfer had been signed off overnight, the Premier League side have today announced the deal to bring in the 28-year-old.

“We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Valencia for the transfer of Roberto Soldado subject to medical,” read Spurs’ statement released on Thursday.

“The striker netted 80 times in 146 appearances during his time at the Mestalla who he joined from Getafe in 2010, after impressing with a tally of 29 goals in 60 league appearances.

“The 28-year-old began his career at Real Madrid where he scored 63 goals in 120 league appearances for the B side, Real Madrid Castilla, also featuring on 16 occasions for the First Team either side of a loan move to Osasuna in season 2006-7 when he scored 11 goals in 30 appearances before moving to Getafe in 2008.

 “The Spain international now has 11 caps to his name and is the scorer of six goals for his country, with his most recent appearances coming in the Confederations Cup, staged in Brazil in June.”

Soldado’s imminent exit from Valencia will bring to an end three years at Mestalla.
