Spurs €4m away from Soldado

Tottenham Hotspur have yet to reach an agreement with Valencia for Roberto Soldado, but are believed to be close.

The Premier League side, who last summer were turned down by the striker, are back in for his signature this summer, reportedly alongside interest from Liverpool.

Spurs’ technical director Franco Baldini flew out to Valencia yesterday to discuss a deal with President Amadeo Salvo, with the player’s agent Alberto Toldra also present.

Whilst nothing was struck on Monday evening, it is reported that progress was made. Los Che, who are firm on asking for an offer of €30m, which stands as his buyout clause, are said to have seen Spurs raise their fixed bid from €22m up to €26m.

Negotiations are expected to continue on Tuesday for the 28-year-old, after Valencia hold a board meeting to study Spurs’ offer and, although there is still a difference of €4m, it is anticipated that the London club may increase their offer and shortly wrap up Soldado’s transfer.
