PSG improve Silva’s contract

Paris Saint-Germain have further worsened Barcelona’s chances of signing Thiago Silva this summer by reportedly handing him a pay rise.

The defender has been increasingly linked in recent weeks with interest from the Catalan club, even with PSG maintaining that they will not sell him.

On from both him and his agent indicating more than once this week that his intention is to see out his contract at the Parc des Princes, reports in France today are that the club have handed the 28-year-old improved terms.

Specifically, L’Equipe believe that PSG will increase Silva’s earnings by an additional €1.5m a year, to boost his total earnings each season from €9.5m to €11m.

Significantly, Barca were seen as having offered a €9m salary to the player in their attempts to turn his head this transfer window.
