Rayo Vallecano have asked Atletico Madrid if they can take midfielder Saul on loan for next season.

AS reports that Rayo director of football Felipe Minambres has already been touch with Atleti regarding the Spanish Under-20 international and that talks are now well advanced.

Saul had a great 2012-13 campaign with Atletico’s B team and also made nine first team appearances, seven of them in the Europa League and two in the Copa del Rey.

At 17 years and 108 days he also became the youngest-ever Atletico player to debut in European competition in a match against Besiktas on March 8, while boss Diego Simeone feels he may benefit more next season by getting playing time at another top-flight club.

In addition, Rayo have also enquired about Portuguese striker Pizzi, who spent last term on loan at Deportivo de La Coruna.

However, the 23-year-old looks set to join Benfica on a similar arrangement despite Sporting Lisbon also interested in acquiring his services.
