Tello set for Barca contract

Cristian Tello is reportedly on the verge of formalising another new contract extension at Barcelona, which will increase his buyout clause.

The winger has reportedly been in talks with the Catalans this summer to sign a new deal at the Camp Nou, less than six months on from having previously renewed at the club.

Barca have been seen as keen to remove the winger’s appearance-based buyout clause that, in a similar fashion to how Thiago Alcantara had it, varies in amount depending on the percentage of minutes the player manages to feature in games over a season.

With Tello’s current clause down at €10m, having apparently not met the lowest targeted number of appearances for 2012-13,  a number of clubs have been linked with interest this summer.

However, the Catalans are reportedly on the verge of negotiating a new contract for the 21-year-old, which it is assumed will increase his clause automatically to around the €18m mark.

Tello’s agent Josep Maria Orobitg is reportedly at the club’s offices today to finalises terms ahead of the agreement being made official.

It is believed that the player has turned down interest from Liverpool, Tottenham, Fulham and Borussia Dortmund this summer to commit to Barca.
