Valencia confirm Romeu loan

Valencia have confirmed that they have completed the signing of midfielder Oriol Romeu from Chelsea on a season long loan deal.

The 21-year-old was at the club today to undergo a medical ahead of completing a temporary switch out to the Mestalla outfit.

Having completed formalities, Los Che have now confirmed the former Barcelona man’s capture, which is believed to hold no purchase option in place to make the deal permanent.

Romeu spoke to reporters after passing his medical tests today.

“I am very happy, pleased and look forward to working with the group and to have a good year in Valencia,” the Chelsea-owned player reflected.

“I have spoken with [Coach Miroslav] Djukic and he has given me confidence, I am very happy with his words and I look forward to working with him.

“Did Juan Mata convince me to come here? Mata has always told me very nice things about Valencia, he was excited for me to come here.

“I will have more chances to play than at Chelsea.”

Valencia, in confirming Romeu as their third capture of the summer after Michel and Javi Fuego, will be presented to fans and the media on Friday evening, before tomorrow travelling out to Germany to meet up with his new teammates at their preseason camp.
