Perez: People think Madrid arrogant

Florentino Perez says he is ashamed some people may consider Real Madrid to be arrogant.

The Madrid President spoke of his passion for Los Blancos in an interview with American TV channel Univision  broadcast by Deportes Quatro and, in a self-critical moment, admitted the perception of the Spanish giants by outsiders is sometimes not what it could be.

“Here, if people don’t like the line-up then they whistle, but they are affectionate whistles, from fans with high expectations.

“We believe we’ve inherited the history of a spectacular brand of football. However, I’m ashamed to say that people think we are a bit arrogant.

“Maybe we are, but we are a club that has no owner. Real is a world heritage institution, although that annoys those who don’t support us.

“A lot of children around the world cry every time we lose,” he insisted.

Perez was also questioned over whether Cristiano Ronaldo remained committed to the club and insisted the Portuguese was going nowhere.

“I’m sure Cristiano will retire at Madrid, which is what both club and player want, because it is something players like [Zinedine] Zidane and so many other greats did.”
