Duo ‘offered more for Villa’

Barcelona’s Atletico Madrid-bound David Villa was reportedly the subject of better transfer bids from Tottenham Hotspur and Fiorentina.

The 31-year-old was yesterday confirmed as the subject of an agreement to move to the Vicente Calderon for a total value deal of €5.1m.

However, Catalunya Radio report that both Tottenham and Fiorentina had come forward with offers worth ‘€3m or €4m more’ to sign the striker this summer.

Barca reportedly accepted Atleti’s deal as it was the player’s preference and the Catalans wanted to ‘thank’ him for not leaving them in January, when Arsenal had a bid turned down.
