Rayo close in on Sevilla midfielder

Rayo Vallecano are hoping to snap up central midfielder Javi Hervas from Sevilla this week.

The 24-year-old has made just nine La Liga appearances since joining Los Nervionenses from Cordoba for €1.1m before the start of last season, and spent the latter part of the 2012-13 campaign back on loan at his former club.

However, Rayo boss Paco Jemez is a keen admirer of Hervas following their time together at Cordoba and, according to AS, is keen to link up with him again at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.

Hervas has a contract with Sevilla until 2016 but has fallen behind Hedwiges Maduro in the pecking order at the Sanchez Pizjuan and would relish a move to another top-flight club to reignite his career.
