Demichelis: River return possible, but…

Martin Demichelis has admitted that River Plate are trying to re-sign him, but that he also has reasons to think twice.

The Argentine is expected not to stay on at Malaga this summer and, with his contract expiring at the end of the month, has been linked with the likes of Atletico Madrid and former club River Plate.

“River have contacted me, they have been very good to me, let’s wait a little,” commented Demichelis to reporters this week.

“There is the possibility of a return. In Buenos Aires I live three blocks away from [the stadium] Monumental, I owe everything to the club and hopefully I can give back a little.

“If I return then I would be the happiest guy in the world because I am a fan.

“But I look to Bastian [his son], the life that he leads in Spain and the danger that Buenos Aires represents is a hindrance.

“There are also offers from Europe. And people forget all the effort that you have made.

“I’m undecided, as you can imagine.”
