Koeman: Bayern don’t have a Messi

Ex-Barcelona defender Ronald Koeman believes that Pep Guardiola faces a tough challenge at Bayern Munich because 'they don't have a Messi'.

The Spanish tactician was officially unveiled as the new man in charge at the Allianz Arena on Monday.

But his former teammate at Camp Nou thinks that the German team don't have a player who can decide a game.

“At Barcelona Pep had Lionel Messi,” he told De Telegraaf. “He could win a game on his own.

“In my opinion Bayern do not have a player similar to that.

“Pep has inherited a great squad though, and has also brought in Mario Gotze.

“It was very logical to see Pep become a Coach,” the Dutchman added. “He was still very young when we played together, but he had extraordinary vision, team spirit and always thought things through tactically.”
