Del Nido: Negredo wants to go

Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido has revealed that striker Alvaro Negredo has told him he wants to leave the club this summer.

The 27-year-old has been linked with an exit from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this coming transfer window, due to the conception that Sevilla have to raise sufficient funds to finance a €50m debt.

However, in Jesus Navas, Antonio Luna and Luis Alberto all leaving first, Del Nido indicated just last week that the club now are under no pressure to sell Negredo.

On from this, though, the President has reflected that the Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund target has now made clear his resolution for the transfer window.

“The player has not stood on the rooftop and declared ‘I want to go’, but he has said that he wants to grow and that he wants to play in the Champions League,” Del Nido told reporters this week.

“One such team is Atletico Madrid and the other is from outside our borders. Sevilla will choose the one that offers more guarantees.

“If we start to talk about price…the players are measured by the market and who better than us know this.

“What value a player who scores 30 goals? That rule of thumb has no value. Negredo was at the European Championship, Soldado at the Confederations Cup, Soldado, Negredo, if you see what Soldado is worth on the market, you can see what Negredo is worth.

“I’ve been buying for 30 years and I know what he is worth. As President and as Monchi has delivered, any sales will be great. This was the case of Luis Alberto, who was a good sale. We are comfortable with Negredo, who we have already rejected a first offer for…

“Do not forget the will of the player, if he wants to go. Thus we are a little forced in negotiations. We must assess whether it is good that a player stays against their will.”
