Ramos welcomes Isco capture

Sergio Ramos has welcomed the news that Isco is on the verge of joining Real Madrid, as he looks ahead to Spain’s clash with Italy.

Reports over the weekend have suggested that Malaga’s playmaker Isco has agreed a deal to move across to the Santiago Bernabeu for next season, where he will find an enthusiastic new teammate in Ramos.

“Isco is a great player and anything that can strengthen us when playing at the highest level is always a positive,” Ramos reflected on Onda Cero this week.

The defender was talking after helping Spain reach the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup, where thanks to a 3-0 win against Nigeria that guaranteed top spot in Group B, they will face Group A runners-up Italy.

“It would be a dream to play in the final at Maracana against Brazil, but first we must win against Italy.

“Italy brings us good memories, it is a team that we know perfectly. They are a great team, hopefully it will be a nice game.

“Against Nigeria the team did a great job. We have suffered a significant physical toll, but we will do the necessary work so as to be at our best for the next game.

“Going forward we have played that make a difference, when they have an opportunity they rarely fail.”
